서울에서 가구를 만들고 있습니다. 사람과 사물, 사용과 의미가 맞닿는 지점에 관심을 두 ‘민중사물’이라는 이름 아래 작업합니다. 근래에는 ‘범주화된 전통’에 주목하며, 전통의 경계를 느슨하게 만드는 가구들을 만들고 있습니다.

가구는 원시적이고 사람과 가까운 매체입니다. 무언가를 직접 만드는 일은 생각이나 이념을 전달하기보다, 손을 거치며 남은 기분을 사물에 담아 사람에게 건네는 방식에 가깝습니다.

그 모습 그대로 드러나는 보편의 아름다움과 추함 속에 남아 있는 아름다움을 살피고 있습니다. 작업에 관심을 가져주셔서 감사합니다.

Based in Seoul, furniture is made. The work is carried out under the name “Minjung Objects,” with an interest in points where people and objects, use and meaning, come into contact. Recently, attention has turned to what is called “categorized tradition,” creating furniture that loosens the boundaries of tradition.

Furniture is a primal and intimate medium. Making things by hand is less about conveying ideas or ideologies, and more about placing the feeling that remains through the hands into an object, shaped through common use, and passing it on to others.

Attention is given to forms of beauty as they appear as they are, and to the beauty that remains within what is often considered ugly. Thank you for your interest in the work.
